About Bach's Children Music School
Bach's Children Music School was founded in 2003 by Margaret "Peggie"
O'Neill. Bach's is dedicated to providing students the opportunity to
study a wide range of stringed instruments, which is currently absent
from the Treasure Coast public school system. At this time we offer
private lessons in violin, viola, cello, bass, classical guitar and
piano. We also anticipate offering harp lessons in the near future. In
addition to solo performance, we currently showcase two performing
student string quartets, a beginner and an intermediate string
orchestra.
Since the school's inception, several students have performed on local
National Public Radio's (WQCS) Young Artists Spotlight and have also
successfully participated in Florida's Allstate Competition as well as
the prestigious FACCS Competition. The student body has also been invited
to play for the NY Mets exhibition games in Port St. Lucie for two years
in a row, and have even had a float in the Stuart Christmas Parade.
Our more advanced students are members of the well-known Treasure Coast
Youth Symphony, and often perform as principals of their sections. One
of our brilliant young violinists has recently had the opportunity to
perform a concerto with the Indian River Pops Orchestra.
Thanks to the generous support of the Martin County Arts Council, we
were able to host a series of seminars for our orchestra last spring,
given by the well-known composer and classical guitarist, Constantinos
Jaferis. Mr. Jaferis has composed two pieces expressly for our
students, one of which he played with them. These pieces were premiered
in the spring of 2009.
We are extremely proud of our faculty - all of whom are performing
artists as well as experienced and highly dedicated teachers. Our
student body of about ninety students continues to grow daily.
